    President's Report

    Hello Charlotte NACE!

    We are in full swing of the dog days of summer, with weddings, reunions, conferences, and social events keeping us all busy!  I hope you can find time to enjoy a nice vacation, barbecue, or just some lazy days off for a staycation.

     June’s program was a big hit as our annual joint NACE/ILEA networking mixer at the beautiful new Embassy Suites Uptown.  A special thanks to the hotel team that hosted our program with Southern hospitality!  In our 5th year, this annual networking event allows us to catch up with old friends and meet new networking contacts representing a broad spectrum of professionals within the events industry.

     We are gearing up for our annual NACE Experience! Conference in Houston Texas.  It will be held at the brand new JW Marriott in downtown Houston and promises to be a spectacular time!  The dates are July 16-19, 2017and the Charlotte Chapter will once again represent with over 12 attendees!  If you can’t make the conference, be sure to attend our August program, which is our annual Experience! Conference recap.   See you there!

    It’s that time of year again for the annual #YPMixerCLT!  This year’s event will be on July 12th at The Fillmore from 6:00-8:00PM.  The response this year is incredible, and we have 51 non-profits confirmed for table setups!! It’s going to be a packed house!!

     For those of you who aren’t familiar with the YP Mixer it is an event that we host in collaboration with RAIN, SHARE Charlotte, and Charlotte/ONE, to help Young Professionals learn how they can get involved in the community!  Various local non-profits come in and setup a table while Young Professionals graze and learn about how they can get more involved!  It’s a night of networking, Tito’s Vodka J, great prizes, and supporting charity!!  Additionally, a perfect opportunity to pass along your business cards to non-profits who constantly have event needs J.

    CE Rental Adds Two Industry Veterans To Their Team.

    Big things are happening again at CE Rental. In the past 4 months the company has acquired 3 other rental companies to be part of the CE Rental family. These include the Classic Party Rental’s locations in Charlotte and Raleigh now called CE Rental, and Festive Fare in Charlottesville, VA.  Now 2 special events industry veterans have also been added to the CE team.

    First, James Auerbach has joined the CE Rental corporate team as the Senior Vice President.  An industry veteran in the Raleigh market, Auerbach brings over 15+ years of experience in the event rental business including Showtime Events and Classic Party Rentals.

    CE is also excited to announce that Mary Moore Larick has been joined the team as the new Director of Sales for the Raleigh, NC location. Over the past decade Mary has been a well-known fixture in the Greater Triangle region working closely with many of the top caterers, planners, venues and special event companies. Mary brings a passion for design and exceeding customer’s expectations to the CE Rental team.

    Job Title:             Account Executive | RALEIGH

    Qualifications:                  Strategic and creative thinking to understand industry and business trends.

                                               Great organizational, oral and written communication skills.

                                               Extensive experience with presentations and client facing communication.

                                               Ability to work independently and meet quota-level goals.

                                               Good understanding of event management.

                                               Experience demonstrating the ability to manage multiple projects.

                                               Knowledge of event rental equipment a plus.                                     

     

    Experience:                        Bachelor’s degree and 3 + years sales experience.

    Classification:                   Exempt

    Position Summary:          The Account Executive manages the sales process of our rental equipment through current relationships as well as develops new business relationships in the Carolinas and surrounding areas.

    Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:

    • Generating new revenue through closing sales by acquiring new business customers and growing existing customers.
    • Design effective proposals and quotations, and respond in a timely manner to Requests for Proposals (RFP).
    • Create and Maintain contracts with clients through the event process.
    • Practice effective time management for sufficient sales activity.
    • Identify future product and market growth opportunities.
    • Oversee the coordination of sub-rentals and outside vendors when necessary.
    • Develop new business leads through networking.
    • Join professional organizations such as NACE or ILEA to build professional network.
    • Adhere to company policies and pricing structure.
    • Cultivate and increase annual rental revenue.
    • Track and report results of market analysis and business development for future opportunities.
    • Work with the Operations Staff and Project management team to ensure jobs are handled appropriately and meet the client’s expectations.

     

    Software Skills:

    • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
    • Proficient use of rental software a plus.

    Event Assistant

    Part Time Position 15-25 hours per week

     

    Description of Position

     

    The event assistant is responsible for event set up, execution, and event break down, catering deliveries and Retail Operations. This person must have a valid North Carolina driver’s license, clean driving record, along with their own vehicle. They must be available to work as needed for Events and deliveries as needed.

     

    Objectives:

    The Event Assistant will have a thorough knowledge and understanding of our menu and learn processes quickly. The Event assistant is responsible for set up and execution of all in house and offsite catering events. The Event Assistant must be able to support the Catering Sales Manager in assigned weekly tasks and able to complete other duties as assigned. This person will also assist in running our retail operations. Open Availability is necessary. Excellent communication skills required to work with clients during event. Excellent presentation skills required in representing company during events.

     

    Job Functions:

    •          Setup and Execution of Events
    •          Being efficient and having great organizational skills
    •          Learning menus and standard setups for events
    •          Ability to deliver catering orders
    •          Passion for catering and events
    •          Work as a team player with a passion for continuous learning
    •          Being able to work different Retail Outlets within the company
    •          Answering phones and inquires

    Event design

     

    Minimum Requirements:

    •          HS Diploma or GED Equivalent
    •          Valid NC Driver’s License
    •          A minimum of 1-year Hotel, Catering and or Retail Experience
    •          Open Availability including evenings and weekends
    •          Ability to lift 35 pounds

     

    Dynamic Catering Event Sales Assistant- We are looking for:

    •          Great interpersonal skills
    •          Strong written and verbal communication skills
    •          Strong computer skills
    •          Great attention to detail
    •          Hospitality preferably hotel and or catering experience
