One of the many things I enjoy each spring are the gorgeous North Carolina blue skies and I have been grateful for the many ones we have had this spring thus far! I know we are all in the thick of “Spring Busy Season” so let’s get right to it!
I want to highlight the amazing job Kelli Taddonio and the Programs team did working with Ted Watkins and the JWU Charlotte Student Chapter on the April 15th meeting! The Student Chapter Takeover featuring a panel of industry professionals discussing the topic “Aligning Your Passions with Your Career” held at Camp North End was a huge success on all accounts. The JWU students with guidance from our members executed a flawless chapter program for our professional members. The sponsors of this event included: AFR, ShutterBooth, Bunn DJ Company, The Herban Legend, Fresh Med, NoDa Company Store, Tommy McCart Photography and Camp North End. The recent pictures posted on our NACE social media platforms speak for themselves!
I would also like to personally thank the panelists for sharing their vast experience and candid responses to questions generated by the JWU Charlotte students. We appreciate your time, talent and contributions to our industry. Those panelists included:
- Sunil Atreya, Associate Professor + College Chair at JWU Charlotte
- Cassie Brown, Chief Experience Officer + Owner at TCG Events
- John Cornely, Executive Chef at Charlotte Country Club
- Joe Bunn, Founder + Owner at Bunn DJ Company
Now on to the May 20th meeting! This month we are bringing a professional speaker for an engaging program titled “Mastering You Memory”. Tyler Enslin was a featured speaker at the 2018 NACE Experience Conference in Palm Springs. Based on the positive feedback from the Charlotte members that attended that session, we are thrilled to have him here in a few weeks. One of the major takeaways I had from attending this session was gaining tools to remember people’s names in networking situations and life in general. I am looking forward to hearing him again and for our members to gain insight into their professional development from his presentation. A huge thank you to our meeting host Renaissance Charlotte SouthPark Hotel and sponsors Party Time Rentals, Ballantyne Booth and Proper Flower.
There is still time to register and it only take a few minutes – See you there!

Last month our JWU Student Chapter had the opportunity to partner with the Charlotte NACE Chapter and host their monthly meeting! Students and program leaders assisted with programming logistics/planning, marketing, and execution. We are so incredibly proud of these aspiring young adults, who will one day lead our industry. We look forward to what is next for them both in and out of college, and the impact they make on our chapter and city.
