President's Report

NACE Family,

Seven months into this new world and finally getting back together IN PERSON!  A very wise and thoughtful friend told me, “If we aren’t prepared to do this, who is?!”  Truer words have not been spoken.  We as hospitality professionals have been preparing for this moment since March.  We have focused on ensuring that when we work with our clients, we are doing so with the upmost concern for their attendees and our employees.  We are ready to do that for NACE Charlotte on October 19th at the Grand Bohemian! Spots are limited to 50 so please sign up if you haven’t already.  I’m excited to see half of your face and the fabulous mask you decide to wear on the other half.

Thanks so much to ILEA and La-Tea-Da’s for partnering with us for the September program.  And special thanks to NACE member, Moving Mountains Studios for donating their services to film the program!  It was really awesome.  I haven’t made the paella.  I’m sure if you know me, you are not surprised.  If you don’t know me, come on over and I’ll make you my specialty, turkey and cheese on wheat bread. J  The program was so engaging and if somebody is making the dish in the next few weeks, I am available to take leftovers.

Each October, we host our annual meeting for members only.  This invite went out last week.  We will conduct the annual meeting via Zoom at 9AM on October 21st.  We will talk about where we stand as a chapter in our financials, membership and programs.  We will also vote in our new board leaders for 2021.

I was recently given a book for Ella Cate for her first birthday from a dear friend and the words really spoke to me on many levels.  Last night as I read it, I thought about many of you and this journey we have been on.  The fundamentals of the book is love each other and love yourself.  I know our spiritual journeys can all look very different but I believe we can all share in that belief of love. <3

“I’ll pray you choose hope should you ever face fear.  And seek wisdom with patience when the pathway’s unclear.  That you will love others, whether strangers or friends, with the same kind of love that God feels for them.

I’ll pray where you go, that wherever you land, you’ll find purpose and meaning and a role in God’s plan.  That you’ll know who you are and like what you do.  And love yourself fully and God wants you to.” – When I Pray for You, Matthew Paul Turner

Also, GO VOTE!!!!

Be kind to each other, be strong for each other and be hopeful!
